Hello Transition Falmouth from Constantine!
We’ve managed to get a screening of this eco-movie-of-the-moment for April 1st. Nice timing to have Age of Stupid on April Fools Day!
This was sold out at Eden last weekend and at various outlets across the country – and we are among the very first to show it locally.
Its a bit of a parable – about a world in the future after man has wrecked the eco-system. Starring Pete Postlethwaite – who’s apparently a bit of an
eco-warrior himself – as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055 watching archive footage of 2008 and asking ‘why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?’
The whole thing has been done with fashionably green credentials by Franny Armstrong who directed McLibel and John Battsek (One Day in September). It has been funded by subscription, shot on a shoestring budget with a minimal carbon footprint, with all sorts of celebs kicking in support – the soundtrack features songs by Radiohead and Depeche Mode among others. This is a true Drama-Documentary-Animation hybrid and as Ken Livingstone – among many others has said:
“Everyone in the world should be made to see this film”
So its at the Tolmen Centre on April Fools Day 1st April at 7.30 Only £2 and free to children and all concessions. No need to reserve – just turn up.
The hard-hitting film TRASHED, recently shown in the Chapter House of Truro Cathedral, about the terrible effects of plastic waste on our planet has been a revelation to many and people are invited to share ideas about the way forward and how to prevent any more damage before it’s too late.

For those who came to the 100% Renewable Energy for the South West talk, featuring Dr. John Green, in the Truro Council Chamber on 14th September, this will be a follow up from that.
About this time last year, we held a social gathering for LETS, Transition and other environmental groups in and around Truro and Falmouth to meet chat and drink and find out more about Transition Truro, Truro LETS, Transition Falmouth Falmouth LETS, and other local environmental groups, which proved quite popular, so this year we will be holding another one in Truro.
Seasonal Green Gathering
Whether we like it or not, the annual consumer fest is upon us again. As an antidote to the rampant consumerism, why not come to a gathering of like minded people at the lovely home of Truro Transition and LETS members, Mard and Robin Sellwood.
Just bring food and drink to share and enjoy relaxed company and chat. If you have some appropriate music or a short fun activity feel free to bring it along.
Date – Tuesday 15th December 2015, 7.30 pm onwards.
Please email lindsay@transitiontruro.org.uk for address details and directions so that we have a rough idea of numbers.
