Two days to go and we are organised: Gale force winds and horizontal rain predicted – just a Cornish blessing? But if more of a curse then the couriers will resort to public transport to reach their destinations.
Here is the current itinerary for the West, East and North Spokes, across Cornwall converging on Truro at 4:00pm. Carrying messages of support for global Climate Change action and highlighting the practical, local, activities of Transition Towns and Climate Friendly villages.
West Leg/spoke: Three cyclists are to carry, across country, a letter from the Mayor of Penzance to reach Helston by 12:00 midday where the Helston Mayor will add his letter.
A mixed team of cyclists will then travel the pretty (hilly) route to Falmouth for 2:00pm to meet the Falmouth Mayor and two Falmouth angels.
Several Cyclists will then make their way to Truro and be met near the City by many supporting cyclists.
Others, less hardy, will be using public transport to reach the central point of Truro Lemon Quay by 4:00pm.
East leg/spoke: The messengers will set out by tandem from Saltash Guildhall at 10.00am, from Looe Guildhall, via Looe Valley Line at 12.00am, connecting with the Liskeard messenger at Liskeard rail station at 1.00pm and onto Lostwithiel.
North leg/spoke: Several Cyclists from Trelay Farm near Bude will travel by bike and public transport to Lostwithiel
At Lostwithiel the Mayor will be at the Train Station at 1:15pm. Travelling by train the letters will be delivered to a cyclist at St Austell Station where the St Austell letter will be added and all cycled down to Truro for 4:00pm.
For meeting up before 4:00pm the warmth and dry of a Truro Café – Truro Coffee House (opposite rear of Hall for Cornwall).
